Plot[]

Opening Countertop

Bob & Larry greet the kids once again while on The Countertop. Bob then asks the audience who's got a question for them. Larry then chimes in & says that he just remembered that he got an e-mail from a kid named Ezzio Vietti who hails from the city of Hackensack, in the state of New Jersey. Bob is confused about the concept of e-mail. Larry then tries to use various online terms. Bob then states that he got cable last month, before Larry replies rather condescendingly that Bob is so early 90's, briefly offending him. Larry then explains that Ezzio said he just did something that he knew he wasn't supposed to do. Now his friends are pretty much telling him to lie about it so he won't get in trouble & wants to know what should he do. Bob then notes that a lie can be a very dangerous thing, before asking if they have any stories about that. Larry has it covered, stating that the same thing happened to Junior Asparagus once. Bob tries to say that he does not remember it happening, but Larry interrupts Bob by telling Ezzio to grab his popcorn, turn down the lights and get ready for today's feature film: "Larry-Boy And The Fib From Outer Space". Larry then says "Roll film!" & leaves before the lights go dim after that, leaving Bob in the dark (both figuratively and literally).

Larry-Boy! And The Fib From Outer Space

The story begins with Percy and his little brother discussing the film they just saw and they see what appears to be a comet flying by in the sky. Jimmy and Jerry Gourd, who are staff at an early-warning radar station, notice the comet and alert Larry-Boy. Larry-Boy notices the signal and then starts up the Larry-mobile and drives off into the night. It turns out that the comet is really a blue alien that starts to hop off.

The next morning, Junior Asparagus and his buddy Laura Carrot are having a tea party. Junior decides to make use of his father's "Art Bigotti" limited edition collector's plate for Mr. Snuggly since the duo ran out of plates. (Mr. Snuggly did not have a plate to eat --his tea cake-- off of.) While trying to retrieve it, the shelf tips. Although it may be a close call, the books hit the plate stand, the plate falls to the ground, and it (the plate) breaks. Laura immediately leaves. She chickens out after she remembers that she had to do her chores. (That is, leaving Junior alone.)

The tennis ball-sized alien manages to get in Junior's home. He emerges from behind Mr. Snuggly. (However, Junior thinks the voice was from his bear.) And he introduces himself as "Fibrillus Minimus" (or Fib, for short) and convinces Junior to lie to his dad that someone else broke it, all the while; he claims that, "A little fib couldn't hurt anybody." Junior is quite reluctant, but when his dad soon notices the broken plate and asks his son what happened to it, Junior has no other choice. So he decided (against his better judgement) lied and said that it was Laura who broke it with her new apple chopper. Junior's dad is in shock. But (surprised that Laura would do such a thing) he naively buys the story and says he is going to have to tell her father right away. Then he uses the telephone to tell Laura's father about what happened. Fib comes out of hiding and congratulates Junior, although Junior notices that Fib looks a bit bigger. Fib shakes this comment off and then the two of them leave the crime scene unpunished. Meanwhile, Larry-Boy begins to search for the alien but passes him all the while he greets the 2.

Later on, Junior is confronted by his friend Percy. Fib then goes and hides in an alleyway. Percy tells Junior about the situation with the plate. Percy went to Laura's house. He is kind of confused because Junior says Laura did it. Since Junior says Laura broke the plate, Laura got in trouble. But (according to Percy), Laura says she did not break it and it was him (Junior) who did it. Then he (Percy) then wonders who is telling the truth. Junior then decides (again, against his better judgement) to lie again. This time, he blames Laura's brother Lenny. He says Lenny did it because he "hated Art Bigotti" and he gave it to a crocodile to chew it up for quite a while. Like Junior's father, Percy is in shock. However, he naively buys the story and leaves him be. Junior tells Fib that it worked again. Only now, Fib has now grown and has gotten feet.

Larry-Boy reports to Alfred that he has found no extraterrestrial life in Bumblyburg and is therefore heading back to the Larry-Cave because he has been driving around in the Larry-mobile all day. Not to mention, he is tired, hungry, and in desperate need of a toilet. Also, the super suit is very constricting. Then, the Larry-mobile passes by Fib again.

Later that evening, Junior and Fib are still out, but Junior's three friends confront him (for blaming Laura and Lenny) while Fib hides in the alleyway. When Junior tells a lie about aliens snatching all of these cows, swapping brains with the cows and the cows with the alien brains coming back to earth and breaking the plate (which was literally the plot of the entire movie Percy and his little brother saw at the beginning of the story), Fib grows to be a massive giant (30 to 50 feet big) with hands who has swapped out his friendly demeanor for an extremely callous one and holds Junior captive and pretty soon, Fib starts causing misery and mayhem all over Bumblyburg by destroying stuff. Scooter, the city's resident police officer witnesses this, and tells the police force to call LarryBoy. He escapes just in time before the Fib crushes his car flat.

Back at the Larry-mansion, Larry is in the middle of a game of Candy Land with Alfred. Unfortunately for Larry, he has been stuck in the molasses swamp for 38 consecutive turns, while Alfred gets to see Princess Lolly. Larry pulls another card, but he is still stuck. He then sarcastically says, "I sure hope the rest of Bumblyburg is having a better day than I am." After looking outside of the window, Larry then sees the destruction, as does Alfred. Larry then tells his butler that he has got work to do and to consider their game... postponed. Alfred looks and agrees.

Back outside, Fib continues to wreak havoc upon the city. Junior does not understand why the creature who he thought was a friend is doing this to him. Turns out Fib reveals that this is the thing that happens with fibs: they grow! And now that Fib is big, it is his turn to call the shots. And now, Junior belongs to Fib rather than the other way around. LarryBoy then appears on the scene and demands that the Fib release Junior. Fib dares LarryBoy to come after him and takes Junior to the water tower. LarryBoy goes after the monster in his jet and jumps out to try and save Junior, however, Fib also captures him. Fib then declares that he was going to eat both Junior and LarryBoy and decides to eat LarryBoy first. However, before he can, it is revealed that Junior could stop the Fib.

Junior realizes what he needs to do and finally confesses to breaking his dad's bowling plate. He further admits that he also lied about both Laura and Lenny. As he tells the truth, Fib shrinks until he turns into nothing. Junior then ate humble pie to his dad and agrees with his parents. Junior's dad says that Junior can skip the punishment as long as he is honest (and tells the true story) the first time.

Later that evening, we see a new red Fib falling into another neighborhood, and it hops away in the opposite direction looking for someone to help it grow.

Closing Countertop

Back on the Countertop, Bob congratulates Larry, now in his Larry-Boy costume, for doing a good job. Larry thanks Bob before saying that he has a meeting with the action figure people in 10 minutes. When Bob questions this, Larry responds that "Larry-Boy mania is sweeping the nation. If you're not on board, you're gonna miss the train". Bob then says that they're over by Qwerty to talk about what they've learned today, before Qwerty once again plays the first half of the "What Have We Learned" song. Bob hops off to turn it off, but Larry-Boy uses his Super-Suction Ear to pull Bob back. Larry-Boy says that he likes the song & Bob should let it play. After the second verse plays, Larry-Boy retracts his Super-Suction Ear again. Bob then explains that Junior thought that the best way to get out of trouble was by telling a lie. Larry-Boy then adds that in order to cover up for the first lie, Junior had to keep telling more & more lies until he was trapped & eventually became a slave to his lies. Bob then notes that Junior thought that a lie would set him free, but in the end the only way for him to get free was by telling the truth. Qwerty then brings up the verse, which is "The truth will set you free. John 8:32b". Bob then turns & explains to Ezzio that the only way for him to really be free is to do what God wants him to do. And God wants him --and us too-- to always tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Bob then explains to Ezzio that he is not saying he is not going to be punished for what he did. (We still may be punished for whatever it is we did.) But as Junior learned, facing our parents can be less painful than getting stuck in a big lie. Larry-Boy then agrees before telling Bob that they need to clear the stage now because it's time for the world premiere of his new music video. Larry-Boy then leaves and Bob is confused & asks Larry if he is joking. Bob then realizes that Larry's not joking, so he leaves the countertop & says "Larry, we got to talk!" We are then treated to a music video of The Larry-Boy Theme Song. Then, the credits roll.

Trivia[]

  • Moral: Coming clean to one’s family members is certainly a lot less painful than getting stuck in a huge chunk of dishonesty. It’s also the best policy, no matter what. Also, never should anyone ever live off a huge chunk of dishonesty. Otherwise they will find themselves in some pretty hot water sooner or later. Not to mention that all those bits of dishonesty they tell to other people will eventually accumulate, come back to bite & haunt them. And before they know it, it will obviously end up taking them hostage & enslaving them too.
